According to official data, about 3% of people worldwide suffer from psoriasis. However, it should be assumed that the actual number of people with this type of skin disease is much higher. Although diagnosed cases of psoriasis have been recorded in infants and the elderly, basically the first signs of this disease appear at 10-25 years of age. It is not clear why it develops, but doctors have information about the initial state of psoriasis. Therefore, by contacting experts in time, you can stop the development of the disease as soon as possible.
Initial symptoms
Initially, small round papules begin to appear on the patient's skin, and their size usually does not exceed the diameter of the needle. The surfaces of these formations are smooth, shiny and well-defined, but they begin to fall off after a few days. The resulting scales are silvery white and can be easily removed from the surface of the pimples. Over time, the number and size of the components of the rash will increase, and the disease will progress to an advanced stage.
Most pimples are red or pink, although they can turn blue in some cases. The formation of the main component of the rash on the leg was observed. Depending on the type of disease, the initial manifestations of psoriasis are on the elbows (extensor surface), knees, body, limbs or scalp.
If you remove all the scales from the pimples, you will find an absolutely smooth shiny surface under them-the final film. But with further scratching, it was quickly damaged and the smallest blood drops began to appear.
Therefore, psoriasis is characterized by three specific phenomena:
- stearin spots-peeling increases when removing scale;
- Psoriasis Film-peel off the thinnest skin layer;
- Blood Dew-The appearance of precise drops of blood after scratching.
However, it seems much easier to see the initial stages of psoriasis in the photos.
Despite all the advances in medicine, no drugs have been developed that can completely cure psoriasis. This disease is characterized by waves, so not only people who encounter similar diseases for the first time, but also people who have lived for many years have experienced the initial stages of its development.
I want to emphasize that there is no cure for psoriasis. With the help of modern medicines, physical therapy procedures and other treatment methods, you can "drive" the disease into a stable state of remission, and you may even forget it for years. But this does not mean that under adverse circumstances, patients will no longer notice the characteristic rashes on the hands and other parts of the body showing the initial psoriasis.
How do you know if psoriasis is progressing?
The previous growth and fusion of individual papules, and the itch that has not occurred so far, prove the transition of psoriasis to the second or advanced stage. In addition, the nature of peeling also changes. Now they can be observed only in the center of the formation, and their edges remain scale-free. This is clearly enough to indicate the growth of the element.
To confirm the transition of psoriasis to the second stage, a test can be used. Its essence lies in the slight damage to the skin of the affected area. If after about a week, psoriasis elements with the same shape as the damage are formed on the same site, it clearly indicates the progression of the disease. In professional literature, this test is described as a Kebner symptom. In addition, this can be observed even under ordinary grooming of the affected skin.
In some cases, patients have exudative psoriasis. Its characteristic is to release a special liquid. The scales are soaked with scales, forming a crusty skin. If one of the skins is removed or damaged, the exuded skin area will be exposed.
